We celebrated 50 years of hip hop by combining forces with Art & Soul Oakland for our 7th annual AfroComicCon! It was a free event at the Oakland City Hall and Frank Ogawa Plaza plus surrounding blocks. There were three stages. The first two stages were presented by Art & Soul: -The Plaza stage presented our fashion show, Women in Hip Hop, and many other amazing groups and artists. -The Clay Street stage had various Gospel, Blues, and other musical offerings, plus Yo-Yo, the legendary rapper presented by AfroComicCon. The third stage was presented by AfroComicCon. We had a wide variety of local music groups, individual artists, dance performances, spoken word and last but not least our Cosplay Competition where the winners garnered cash prizes as well as cool merch. We had a Disney + sponsored Ahsoka (Star Wars) Cosplay meet-up and a photo booth with the Ahsoka theme! Lightsabers were given out as prizes! Inside City Hall, we had 22 panels, workshops, and a film showing by King Vader, plus a large gaming section with a Game Developers Expo, An interactive gaming arcade, a portfolio review and a display from the Gaming museum 'The Made' Community partners were: Hidden Genius, The Made, and Black in Gaming.
